Federal Opioid Program Targets NC Prescribers
Central NC is one of several regions that the federal government is targeting with a pilot program aimed at combating the nations’ rising opioid epidemic. The new Opioid Fraud and Abuse Detection Unit will focus its investigations around doctors and pharmacists suspected of committing prescription fraud. This federal program comes just shortly after Gov. Roy Cooper signed a bill into law that regulates pain killer prescriptions in NC.
